I’m writing again~
I wrote 1,517 words on Blood Prodigy today.
It’s the first time I’ve worked on it in proooobably over a month.
I have two more pages of draft left to revise before I’m finished with the first scene in chapter 3, though after the revisions are complete I fully intend to extend the scene into two more conversations before transitioning into the second scene - so basically, when all is said and done the first two scenes will read like one long extended series of events without any interruptions.
I have found that in elongating events that were already in the book, I’ve worked in numerous subplots in merely discussing the things in my character’s lives that are tangential to the main plot. In that way, I’m hoping to achieve minor subplots that are supportive of the main theme, which is a realistic world in which vampires exist and live their lives, though it has little to do with the main event arc.
My month long foray back into serious roleplaying has actually proven to be incredibly effective as a writing practice tool, as I really feel I’ve worked on my ability to discuss feelings and events without outright stating them and doing so in between or around dialogue and character description, which previously has been difficult for me - I tend to focus on what people are doing and saying and how things look visually rather than thoughts and feelings and relevant issues.
I am concerned that chapter three introduces too many characters too quickly and describes them too uniformly, I will have to consult someone else on what I’ve written to see if it merits further editing, but it’s after 4am now and I don’t have anyone awake to consult with. I think I’ve earned a break for pizza and Elementary.
